Energy harvesting powers up smart homes

Energy harvesting, or the practice of getting energy from external sources like sun and wind power, was originally conducted in industrial setups. These days, however, it seems that energy harvesting has started to be copied by residential developments.
These kind of homes are aptly named smart phones, because of their ability to power theirselves.
